Marina International in sports arena

Marina International Senior Secondary School has vowed to build a new sports hall that will be composed of volleyball and handball courts, with other indoor games .

The school’s management on Saturday, December 16, staged a fund-raising gala by stging an inter-school cup and dancing competitions at the school grounds.

The ground-breaking competition that featured football, volleyball and basketball, brought together three other high schools: Ndow’s Comprehensive, Cates International Senior Secondary School, West African International School and the host, Marina International School.

Ndow’s Comprehensive defeated the host by by 46-42 to clinch the basketball trophy in a keenly contested final before the host consolidated themselves with football title after beating Cates International Senior Secondary School in the final. Ousman Saho scored the only goal of the match to land the coveted title for Marina. In addition to the games, a fund-raising show was staged at night as part of the activities.

In an interview with Observer Sports , Mr Lars Anderson a sports coach at Marina International School, said the activities are organised in a bid to raise funds for international schools to build an indoor sports centres in order to level with other international schools around the world. According coach Anderson , this term’s fund raising activities involved only boys, adding that next term’s activities will be specifically for girls. “Both boys and girls will join to mark the third term activities.,” he said.

Mr Anderson commended Mrs Lamour, the Headmistress of Marina International Senior Secondary School and the entire staff of the school for backing the initiative. He also thanked all the sponsors and donors for their contribution in making the event a success.

i use to teach at marina, hand i was the soccer coach 2000-2002
for a long time the school did not do much for sports. it is good to know that stuff like this are happening in the school.impressive.
