Painter and printmaker, residing in Bakau where he has his own gallery showing his work and works by upcoming young artists he has personally selected. He spent many years in the United States and is using his good connections to promote the arts in The Gambia, working especially with schoolchildren.

Moulaye Sarr
Moulaye is an outstanding painter from the younger generation of Gambian artists.
Moulaye started drawing cartoons and sketches while he was still at primary school. His artistic talent at an early age lead him to mix with artists both locally and in neighbouring Senegal. He spent seven years in Senegal as a young man, and practised art and trained informally with professional artists while he was there. Finally, he decided to return to his motherland, The Gambia.
Moulaye works in a variety of media, although most of his works are two-dimensional abstract forms in acrylic on canvas. He is also a talented portrait painter, plus working in pencil, charcoal and using sand. From time to time, he also experiments with textiles design and other media.
Oct-Dec 2003 Joint exhibition with another promising young Gambian artist, Papa Alassane Guey, at The Village Gallery, Kololi, The Gambia. Moulaye's work is also on permanent exhibition at various hotels in The Gambia.

Njogu Touray
Ever since he was a child, Touray experimented with art and different media. As a teenager, he designed masks and lanterns for street masquerades. With the support of his parents, he moved into decorative art, and soon neighbours were commissioning his work and his name spread.
Touray has travelled widely as an artist. His work has been shown in joint and solo exhibitions in The Gambia, Senegal, Europe and the USA since the late 1980s; most recently 'Colours Of Africa - Contemporary Perspectives' in Oregon in 2002.
In 2005 he plans to open his own 'Tahalart' gallery. In addition to providing a wonderful new venue to exhibit his work, Touray aims to raise the awareness of art among the local Gambian population. In particular, he will be inviting school trips to visit and encouraging the children to experiment with different materials, just as he did as a child.
