The Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices (IAC), comprising various national committees throughout 28 African countries, and 16 countries outside of the African continent, has  observes on February 6, 2006 as the 5th anniversary of the international Day on Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
