Gambia bow out of Abidjan qualifier![]() Tuesday, April 15, 2008 Gambia Scorpions drew goalless with Mauritania on Saturday and eventually crash out of Abidjan 2009 Local Nations Cup qualifier on an away goal rule. The Scorpions drew 1-1 with their west-African counterparts in the Banjul first-leg encounter, making it a most a for them to cancel out Mauritania’s crucial away goal with at least one of their own in order to stand any chance of qualifying for the inaugural tournament that is designed for home-based players only. However, the home side settled for goalless draw on Saturday to progress to the next stage at expense of the Scorpions, who played the whole of the second half on ten men after sending off of Steve Biko’s Habib Kunta.
