Current Feed Content80 students graduate at Core ComprehensiveWednesday, June 25, 2008 Core Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, on Saturday held their graduation ceremony at the Friendship Hotel in Bakau. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Jimoh Musibau the principal of the school, highlighted an outstanding success the school can boast with from this, he said, Core Comprehensive produces 69% to 71% students in London GCE O Level every year, in the Gambia and some of their student are presently in universities and colleges abroad to further their studies. In extra-curricular activities, Mr Jimoh outline the vitality of some important clubs in the school which he said would expose children in their endeavours. Mr Jimsh advised the graduants to be deligent in life and remain discipline as discipline is the bed rock of any laudable achievement in life. He further told graduants to always pursue-execllence because victory of yesterday is negligible compared to the challenges of today and enlighten them to use their knowledge, wishdom and talent to develop their country and desist themselves from enslaving to the western world. Mr. Jimoh finally urge parents to collaborate with the school to discipline their children as teachers alone cannot do all and thanked president Jammeh and his government for producing conducive environment in making education accessible to all. Mr. Emmanual Agim, president of the appeal court of the Gambia, who also double as the the guest speaker of the occasion, stated that it is not easy to with stand the three years course through which, he said, needs devotion and dedication. Mr. Agim reminded the graduants that they are still students and have just step aside from one end to the other. He further adviced the graduants to desist from indulging themselves in certain bad practices as they are the feature leader of the country. He finally urged parents to take good care of their children and ensure that they engage them in meaningful activities which would avail them posterity. The ceremony was characterised with drama presentation by school children and certificates were awarded to the graduants. Author: by Bekai Njie NBR to host 2008 Nayconf![]() Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Alhaji Mass Axi Gye, secretary of state for Youth and Sports has revealed that the 2008 biennial National Youth Conference and Festival (Nayconf), will be hosted by North Bank Region. However, the SoS did not indicate any scheduled date for the national youth gathering. SoS Gye made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of 152 corp members of the 2005-2007 National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) on Thursday at the President’s International Awards, Bakau. SoS Gye said since its inception, Nayconf has been an important youth gathering bringing youth across the country together to discuss issues affecting their lives and mapping out resolutions to resolve them. SoS Gye emphasised that his department has keen interest in the event because of the impact it has on the lives of Gambian youths. The SoS also spoke about the ongoing preliminary review of the National Youth Policy and Action Plan 1999-2008, saying that this will ensure the formulation of a new policy for 2009-2018. “It is our fervent hope that such a review, incorparating contributions from external stakeholders, will consider the resolutions and recommendations from the previous national youth gatherings,” he said. SoS Gye further assured Gambian youths that his department will continue to support and complement the efforts of the NYSS and called on Gambian youth to embrace President Jammeh’s vision of creating enterprises for social change. “The expected outcome of this noble vision is to re-orientate and motivate Gambian youth in order to harness their diverse creativities, energies and at the same time instil in them the virtues of responsible leadership and selfless services to society,” he concluded.
