The renowned Accountancy and Management Institution, Jollof Tutors, is sponsor of the Banjul Schools Football tournament aimed at cementing a long-lasting relationship that would ensure fruitful benefits for schools and students in Banjul.

Ebou Faye, Secretary General of the Banjul Sports Committee, said the tournament  which is part of the programmes of the  committee will help Banjul schools to set the standards in school football and be in the forefront of grassroots development.

He said “We cannot think of raising the standard of football, unless we incorporate school programs for boys and girls”.

Faye added that it is a well-recognized fact that schools provide the young talents the opportunity to develop their potentials. “Elite footballers do not just materialize, they emerge through a well structured system, and schools are pivotal in developing and nurturing talents,” he pointed out.

As such, Jollof Tutors school football tournament will go a long way in contributing to the development of grassroots football.

The consolation prizes for the tournament are, set of Jerseys for winners, footballs for Runners-Up, a trophy and a ball for the best player and top scorer.

A special prize will be given for Upper and Senior Secondary schools for their best players and top scorers who will benefit from a one-year scholarship.

The participating teams are St Joseph Lower Basic School, St Mary’s, Methodist and JC Faye in both male and female categories.

Group B includes Campama, Wesley, and Madarasa Lower Basic school.

In the Senior and Upper Basic category, St Augustine’s, Gambia Senior Secondary, and Muslim Senior Secondary, are pitted in Group A while group B members are Crab Island, Garba Jahumpa, St Joseph’s and At Augustine’s Upper Basic Schools.
