My name is Bubacarr Ceesay. I am a Gambian living in the United State of America. As a young Gambian Living abroad, I'm very particular about the current political and economic situation in my country.
I don't want to spend too much thinking about the past even though I quite agree to the treble history our country under went. Both the colonialists and the leaders in first republic failed the Gambians woefully. However, does that mean that we can no longer turn a new page and begin to write a new chapter in The Gambian history? Of course not!
I strongly believe that we can still change the direction in which this country is heading. When change came in an unfortunate manner in 1994, majority of the Gambian still went ahead and welcome it, because change was over due. But was that the kind of change we were longing for?
There is not a single factory established since then. Prices of basic goods are no longer affordable by even a considerable majority of the Gambians. The health care system is in crisis. Quality education in The Gambia now is in its lowest level ever. Crime and insecurity sky rocketed. Unemployment is now the norms and values of the Gambian youths. Agricultural activities are worthless now a days. Base on these facts, we are in a defining moment in our history. It is about time to change the leadership of this country, not by the barrel this time but by ballot. I believe there should be a new kind politics, a politic of hope and inspiration. But it requires the participation of every Gambian, most especially the young people, to take responsibility to not letting one individual ruin our lives and mortgages the future of our children. The country is not ours; it is given to us for the future generation.

Baboucarr, when last did you say you visited Gambia? You are out of touch of the reality on the ground. Make thorough reserach and stop depending on your radio kankans and the so-called online newspapers with their smearing propaganda. Are those the news you choose to hear and belief? Do you have your own agenda or taht of a progressivbe Gambia? Baboucarr, we live in a dufferent Gambia today, know it or not or, may i say, like it ot not but you'll have to deal with that reality.

Bubacarr has it about right!, you don't need an agenda to see the way things have gone in Gambia over the last few years, there is no credible press to speak of in The Gambia so thank God for on line papers and forums.

Anonymous you are the most idiotic snake I have come across for decades is it because idiots like you are beniffing the few dalasis given to you as tips or bribes? Whi dosent know that the Gambia is now a pariah state where everything has dropped in quality and quantity. Friends and families are broken as there is no trust between them. You idiot have the guts to say all is fine in Gambia, tell me me how and where is all fine? Look at the Agriculture, Tourism, mass unemployment, Cost of living and taxes people pay now a days from imported to local goods and businesses and above the anti foreigner sentiment the government shows.I am sure you are either a stupid July22 boy or one of those irresponsible hooligans with nothing to do. Where has our press freedom and opposition rights gone? Please keep your dirty loose mouth quite

Lamin Touray, your heart is really aching. Take some chilling pills before it burst. Call the sun the moon if that will console your bleeding heart, but one thing is for sure: Yaya is President, yes! Deal with it or you will torment your heart for a long time because Yaya is staying for long, LOOSER!

Kanilai, did I hear you say "no credible press"? Are you not expressing yourself on this very forum (www.wow.GM) hosted in Gambia? Contradictions! You see how easy liars catch their own selves with their trousers down!? This is just one example to substantiate my point: feed you desire/agenda with the so-called online newspapers, the truth will always prevail.

Baboucarr, if you want to be a good scholar, always back your arguements with FACTS, and not mere presumptions. Can you back your arguments with CONCRETE FACTS that "Yaya Jammeh’s economic policies both foreign and domestic have been a total mess..."? When you do this, please refute the recent IMF economic report on Gambia which reports Gambia's performance as satisfactory to eligble the country for debt relief/cancellation, among others. These are CONCRETE FACTS, not mere presumptions. Unless and until you can back what you are presenting here with such CONCRETE FACTS, your comments will just be treated and characterised as "garbage" just like some of those so-called online news papers. You sound to have good intentions for your country, so good luck with your studies. Remember a good scholar pursues proper research before making any presentations.

Lamin, I'm not angry at all. That is why I don't use words like "stupid" and "idiot" as you do. However, I feel that it is my obligation to speak out. I'm happy about the dialogue we begin regarding the current economic and political situation of our country. I will be writing every weekend and I'm always happy to recieve your feedback
I look forward to have constructive debate about our country we both love dearly. THANKS

July22 and Anonymous, I feel I should not waste my time arguing with dumpheads like you who just decided to deny my facts
Anonymous , please note that I am a very well off Gambian who worked and retired from the government honourably and living a very enjoyable life thank God. Each month I give out more than 2 thousand dalasis as gifts sto friends and more than 12000 to my family so note that I am not under privileged or suffering for one thing or the other. I am just expressing my god goven right as a Gambian to the ailing situation in my country.
My heart is very light and happy and I need no pills I suggest you take them and to say will be President forever shows your ignorance and irrationality. Only God's reign will be everlasting my brother. One day or the other Yahya will go, he will either leave or be left and I pray let it be peacefully so that the country picks up quickly and safely.I would suggest to you not to jump on people expressing their opinions. I can swear that I did and I am doing more for the Gambia than you maroons> Baboucarr if you read clearly you will note that I have said nothing wrong or anti your statement(s)

"dumpheads"? Here you go again! Angry eh? Take a pill pal. By the way, what does "dumphead"? mean, is it ENGLISH or INGILISH?

So you "give out more than 2 thousand dalasis as gifts sto friends and more than 12000 to my family so note that I am not under privileged or suffering for one thing or the other.."

What has this to do with what we are discussing? Even if you are doing what claim to be doing, who cares and who wants to know? Why the need for all this pomposity? You see, you have a big problem. You are revealing more and more why you hate Jammeh: you are envious and jealous of this young man's achievement in life. But If you belief in Allah (S A W), He is the one who gives to everyone what everyone has, be it wealth or power. Allah (S A W) is the one who destined Yaya to be president and only him can decide his feature. Deal with that reality Lamin, and you will sleep well when you go to bed.
