Current Feed ContentBritish national faces murder chargeTuesday, April 22, 2008 One William Ball, a British national, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate, Kumba Sillah–Camara, charged with rash and negligence, causing death, contrary to section 221, laws of The Gambia. According to the particulars of the offence, on January 28th, 2008, along Sukuta - Brufut Highway, heading towards Bijilo, in the Kombo North, Western Region of The Gambia, William Ball was on board a vehicle, registration number (JWB1), driving in a rash and negligent manner , thus causing the death of one Modou Ceesay. When the charge sheet was read to him, he pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him. At that juncture, the Police Prosecutor, Corporal 438 Njie, applied to the court for the case to be adjourned, to enable him bring his witness on the next adjournment date. In her ruling, Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, granted the application and adjourned the case to Tuesday, April 22nd. Author: by Salifu M Touray Infanticide in Sanchaba Sulay JobeThursday, April 03, 2008 One Jainaba Jallow, a native of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe was on Monday arraiged before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrate Court charged with infanticide . Jainaba Jallow pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing the death of her child under the age of twelve months at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe. The Police prosecutor Corporal 510 Touray, told the court that his witnesses are not in court and applied for an adjournment of the case to enable his witnesses to appear in court. Lawyer Bachilly who announced his representation for the accused (Jainaba) raise no objective to the prosecutor’s application. Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara urged the prosecutor to bring his witnesses on the next adjournment to enable the case to proceed. She then adjourned the case to April 9. Author: by Salifu M Touray Bundung Borehole Fire Incident Results in Death![]() Wednesday, January 16, 2008 Isatou Camara, 17, yesterday succumbed to burns she suffered a fire incident in Bundung Borehole, this paper has been reliably informed. An indigene of Jarra Toniataba, Lower River Region, the late Isatou is said to be just three months into marriage with one Basiru Jobe of Bundung Borehole. Giving details of the tragedy, our sources said that the deceased was in the house with two other men when the fire started. The two however managed to escape unhurt. The cause of the fire could not be established at the time of going to press but accounts of it having started from the glow of burning incense on the one hand and faulty electric connection of a refrigerator are yet to be confirmed. According to reports, the Fire and Ambulance services were called in but the whole house was razed before they arrived. Author: By Fatou Dibba Source: The Point Alledged murderer remandedThursday, January 10, 2008 Kalilou Konteh, who was accused of murdering the late Fatoumata Camara, was, on Tuesday, remanded at the State Central Prison by Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara. The case, which was scheduled to resume at the Bundung Magistrates Court, could not proceed due to the absence of the defence counsel, Mary Samba Christensen. According to the prosecution, the incident took place on 22 April, 2007, at Sukuta Nema in the Kombo North, Western Region, when Kalilou Konteh allegedly hit the late Fatoumata Camara with a pestle, which resulted to her death. In her ruling, Senior Magistrate Sillah-Camara remanded the accused until the next adjourned date, when his counsel will be present in court.
