Friday, August 24, 2007

All roads would converge to Kanifing Layout today for the official handing over of the keys of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) new administrative building.

This historical moment in the 52-year of Gambian Football has been achieved by the current GFA leadership under the guidance of President Seedy MB Kinteh and assisted by Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba.

The official handing over would be presided over by the FIFA Development Officer in charge of Goal Project in the West Africa, Sampon J. Kablan.

The unprecedented occasion would be help at 17.00 at the premises of the building.

In a chat with Pointsport, the President of GFA, Seedy MB Kinteh revealed that the Building is funded by FIFA under its Goal Project 2.

He pointed out that the offices would ease the financial burden on GFA as they have been paying D70, 000 per year as rental fee to the Independence Stadium.

“Today’s occasion is just a handing over of the keys but we would later find a proper date where a FIFA delegation would join the Gambia Government and GFA to do the official opening ceremony,” he revealed.

The new GFA administrative office is a three-stored building.

The ground floor comprises of a reception, cafeteria, administration, conference room, meeting room, kitchen and store.

The first floor is made of coaches’ office, technical director, medical department, second vice-president of GFA office, Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General.

The top floor would house the GFA President and first Vice president, the Finance department, a computer Lab, a conference hall and a store.

Meanwhile the Press conference scheduled for Saturday morning would now be held just after the handing over ceremony on Friday at the GFA secretariat.
