Principal Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, has set a date for another judgment in the on-going animal vaccine fraud case against one Muhammed Bah.

He will deliver it on September 3rd,2007. Mr Bah was cumulatively sentenced to one-year imprisonment, after he was found guilty of escaping lawful costody by the same Magistrate.

This decision came after the accused told the court that he has no witness to call, after the accused who is standing trial for obtaining US $ 2,970 and attempting to obtain the sum of US $ 58,400 ended his defence before the court yesterday.

In his testimony, Muhammed Bah told the court that on May 2nd, 2007, while he was driving along  Kombo Coastal Road between Senegambia and Coconut Residence, one Mr Adedino, a Pakistanese, stopped him. He said Mr Adedino then gave him a carton, which he was supposed to deliver to Fomma Ceesay in his office, along Kairaba Avenue.

According to him, on his way to Mr Ceesay’s office, he went through manjai Kotu Silo and then to Latrikunda German, where his vehicle had a break down around Africell Headquaters. He then hired another taxi and proceeded. “Upon my arrival at Mr Ceesay’s office I placed the carton at his office door, where I was immediately arrested and taken to the Senegambia Military Post,” he stated.

Mr Bah told the court that he further went with the officers to Coconut Residence, but when they called Mr Adedino on his mobile phone he told them that he was at the Airport. He denied collecting US $2970 from the complainant Mr Ceesay, adding that he had never attempted to collect an additional US $ 58,400 from the complainant.
