The long day event brought together brother Muslims from Nigeria, Sierra leone and the host country, The Gambia, on the topic: ‘striving in the cause of Allah’. The day’s occasion was punctuated by recitation of Holy Qu’ran by the various Daira groups present at the occasion. Deputising for the Interior secretary of state at the occasion, Baboucarr Mboob, commissioner of administration at the Immigration Department, described the topic for the occasion as very important. He noted that, the topic was not only limited to the Qu’ranic injunctions alone, but it also touches the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). “As muslims”, he added, “we should fulfill all our obligations,” . Commissioner Mboob reminded the gathering to obey those in authority and regard them as commanded by Allah. He challenged them to lay more efforts in the teachings of islam, in order to make the society in conformity with Allah’s commands on how the Muslim Ummah should be like. For his part, Bro-Musibau Raimi, vice chairman of the foundation, briefed the gathering about the foundation. According to him, the idea of Nigerian Muslims coming together for the purpose of supplication to Allah and his messenger, prophet Muhammad (SAW) was conceived by a Nigerian business woman in the name of Iya Idayat, in 1993. He stated that, the called was yielded to by a few people she could reach. Mr Raimi pronounced the various achievements registered by the association, among which he revealed, were the graduation of number of students from the foundation’s Qu’ranic education classes, new year calendar lectures, Maulud Nabi (Gamo), among others.
