Modou Sowe To Officiate African Cup Of Nations![]() Friday, January 04, 2008 Modou Sowe, Gambian FIFA /CAF Referee has been selected by the Confederation of African football to officiate in the matches of the 26th edition of the African Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to be held in Ghana from January 20 to February 10, 2008. Mr Sowe will join 15 other Central Referees together with 16 assistant referees. The Referees and Assistant Referees are expected in Accra on the 15 of January 2008. He has been with FIFA since 1998. He was selected as a referee for the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia, and 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. Recently, Sowe was selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the second-leg final of the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup final, November 24, 2007 in Tunisia. He is now 44 years-old and still remains strong and healthy. He will be remembered for officiating the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia, and the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. The energetic referee was also selected to officiate in the UEFA European Under 17 Championship held in France in 2004.
