President Jammeh leaves for ECOWAS Summit

President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, yesterday, left Banjul for Abuja, Nigeria, to attend the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State Summit. The president, who was seen off at the airport by the vice-president and other government officials, was accompanied by a high-powered delegation. President Jammeh will join other ECOWAS leaders to discuss pertinent issues, such as integration and development. The president is expected home on Tuesday, June 24.

VP leaves for Taiwan

The vice-president Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy has left for the Taiwanese capital of Taipei to attend the inauguration of President-elect Ma Yiny-jeou. The vice-president is accompanied a eight-member delegation, including Dr Omar Touray, the secretary of state for Foreign Affairs. The vice-president will join about 530 foreign dignitaries. The unofficial US embassy in Taiwan says US President George W Bush's former chief of staff Andrew Card will attend the May 20 inauguration of Taiwanese...
