Both for its communication facilities and attributes as a way of life statement, mobile phones have turned out to be one of the most in style and singled out device among people of all ages, all over the world. It is something without which it is difficult to imagine life, both in terms of necessity and in terms of a fashion statement.

Nevertheless, apart from being a fashion accessory and an everyday life in thing statement, which adds to the prestige value, the cell phones (telefone celular) have many other benefits to offer to its users, primary of which is to be able to stay connected with the world and our near ones, whenever and wherever possible.

In the beginning, when mobile phones (telefone celular) were just launched in the market, they were established as a device to provide for the normal telephonic communication with the help of the wireless technology and the short message service, in short sms facility. They also offered the facility of phonebook storage, organizing of dates and time and the like. It acted as calculators also. Mobiles also served as a suitable way of managing and detection of appointments. It provided with a reminder as well.

Nonetheless, with the advancement in the digital technology these facilities have become more advanced with lots of new added features (for instance short message service `sms` along with pictures mms snaps, excess phonebook entries along with the option of allocating separate tunes for each entry etc). Now one can utilize one`s mobile for various other purposes also, for example checking mails or using the Internet. It can even be operated as a mini laptop, with more or less all the essential features of a computer.

But these features are only credited to the mobile phones (telefone celular) with high price tags. One has the option to choose from the mobile phones that allow taking pictures, videos, playing video games, listening to music over FM Radio, etc. Handsets with the advantages of Blue-tooth and infrared technology help the user to transmit and swap information, which not only includes music but pictures, sounds and videos in just a fraction of a second.

Besides providing these technologically advanced benefits to the users, a mobile also plays an important role in managing crime. This can be explained from the fact that cell phones (telefone celular) help to track people The law has provided for certain rules, which are to be followed by the mobile phone companies when providing their services to the customers. These rules provide a great help in turning cell phones and sim cards as forensic evidences when needed.

Also in times of disaster and natural calamities, cell phones (telefone celular) have proved to be of great help. Today, in order to deal with such situations quickly and easily, most of the cell phones provide the service of `emergency call` to the users. For example in many cases where people were stuck in a circumstance like earthquakes or landslides, they have managed a way out with the help of their mobile phones.

The rapid development in technology has made the cell phones (telefone celular) more popular with each passing day. Just about 20yrs back, when it was just introduced in the market, it was viewed as pricey extravagance intended only for business houses, police force and army, but now almost 50% children in America possess cell phones. This shows the influence of cell phones to draw new market and clientele, with its quick advancement. Moreover, the use of mobile phones is growing at a fast rate in developing countries also, as people are using it for both personal and business use. But despite its...

Thursday, January 10, 2008

Statistics say there are about 100 million cell phone users in America, with thousands more jumping on to the bandwagon every day. But despite its popularity, many users are still clueless about the technology (or ideas) behind this indispensable device. So allow me to present you a quick-n-easy crash course -- the 4 must-know things about your wireless buddy:

 1. Wireless Services

There are 3 kinds of wireless services -- (a) Analog, (b) PCS, and (c) Digital. Analog was the original wireless service and still covers large parts of the US. But it's dated and quite expensive to maintain, so used only by a minority of individuals mostly from universities and the government. For the sake of comparison, analog is to wireless what dial-up is to the Internet. PCS and Digital wireless services are more modern -- they are conceptually the same but operate on different radio frequencies.

 2. Transmission Technologies

You choose your cell phone but it's your service provider (carrier) who decides what transmission that phone will use. These, too, come in 3 flavors -- (a) CDMA, (b) GSM, and (c) iDen. CDMA is the dominant US standard offering the benefits of voice encryption and high-speed mobile internet. GSM is a satellite-based European standard that's making inroads into the US as an alternative to CDMA. While iDen is a relatively obscure standard whose USP is its support for push-to-talk facility - a walky-talky kind of system.

 3. Calling Plans

Calling Plans give you access to the carrier's network to make calls within your predefined area (your home area). Most carriers offer local, regional and national plans with the benefits of unlimited night or weekend calling and free long distance calling being offered by default. The lowest advertised rates are generally for local plans -- ideal if you don't travel that much. But if you do, factor this into your plan at the sign-up stage itself to brace for higher call rates when you activate roaming. Consider family or shared plans if you are a new subscriber as they offer the greatest amount of flexibility and economy.

 4. The Cell Phone Itself

Your cell phone isn't just an extension of your business or personal life, it's also a reflection of your personality. So choose one that does just that. Do you need a top-grade phone with mobile TV and full multimedia features -- streaming video and the like? Or, do you need a smart phone with support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF files -- along with push-email? Or do you just need a solid, dependable phone that helps you communicate by voice and sms wherever you are? Bottomline is, pay only for the features you need. Battery life, speaker clarity and signal strength in out-of-city areas are all important deciders of phone quality. If you're in the market for a new cell phone, make sure you're clear about what you're going to use the phone for. Focus on deals that give you the widest possible choice in one place and look for add-ons that enhance your user experience. Draw from the experiences of others but make your own decisions. After all, your needs are as unique as your priorities.

 About the Author:

Nat Jay is actively involved with trends in the cell phone industry. Among the more popular cell phones having this capability are the following: Motorola RAZR (my personal favorite), the Palmone Treo, and the Samsung T509. With so many of the more popular cell phones today being Bluetooth enabled, chances are your phone may be as well.

Perhaps the greatest thing about Bluetooth accessories is that they can be connected to any cell phone that is Bluetooth compatible. This means that you only have to buy the equipment once rather than buying it every time you switch phones. If only all electronic devices did that!

This is particularly useful for those who want the convenience of Bluetooth cell phone car kits. You only have to perform the installation once and it will work with any phone that you purchase that is Bluetooth capable. This can save you literally hundreds of dollars on installation alone each and every time you purchase a new cell phone.

Bluetooth car kits can either be portable or require full installations. The portable kits may either plug into your cars cigarette lighter or have their own rechargeable batteries, which will make them useful in your car; home, or wherever you happen to be.

If you opt for the full Bluetooth cell phone car kit installation it will require a professional and will cost a bit. The good news however is the fact that with Bluetooth you will only need to go through this one time rather than many. Some of the great features of a full auto installation include the dashboard display, color screens, and GPS receivers that work with software like TomTom, Wayfinder, and Route 66.

Below or 10 of the more popular Bluetooth Cell Phone Car Kits:

1) Parrot Easydrive EasyInstall Cellular Phone Kit

2) Parrot Rhythm n' Blue CD MP3 AM/FM Bluetooth Stereo Deck

3) Parrot 3200 LS-Color Bluetooth Car Kit

4) Blue Ant Supertooth 2 Sun Visor Mounted Bluetooth Speakerphone

5) Motorola Bluetooth Car Kit

6) Motorola Bluetooth Self Install Car Cellular Phone Kit

7) Jabra Handsfree Bluetooth Speakerphone

8) Raytel TellPhone 5000 Bluetooth Voice Recognition Car Kit

9) Nokia Bluetooth Speakerphone

10) Samsung Bluetooth Car Kit

If you opt for the installation option the only worry you will have when switching phones is changing your in car battery charger, rather than all the other bells and whistles that would need replacing with a non Bluetooth enabled phone.

There are several benefits of this new exciting technology, and this is only the beginning.

About the Author:

Find out how a Bluetooth PC card can make a world of difference for your home office. Electromagnetic radiation travels by means of oscillating electromagnetic fields that pass through the air and the vacuum of space. It does not require a medium of transport. Information is carried by systematically changing some property of the radiated waves, such as their amplitude or their frequency. When radio waves pass an electrical conductor, the oscillating fields induce an alternating current in the conductor. This can be detected and transformed into sound or other signals that carry information.

The word 'radio' is used to describe this phenomenon, and radio transmissions are classed as radio frequency emissions.

Originally, radio or radioteleography was called 'wireless telegraphy', which was shortened to 'wireless'. The prefix radio- in the sense of wireless transmission was first recorded in the word radioconductor, coined by the French physicist Edouard Branly in 1897 and based on the verb to radiate (in Latin "radius" means "spoke of a wheel, beam of light, ray"). 'Radio' as a noun is said to have been coined by advertising expert Waldo Warren (White 1944). The word appears in a 1907 article by Lee de Forest, was adopted by the United States Navy in 1912 and became common by the time of the first commercial broadcasts in the United States in the 1920s. (The noun 'broadcasting' itself came from an agricultural term, meaning 'scattering seeds'.) The term was then adopted by other languages in Europe and Asia, although British Commonwealth countries retained the term 'wireless' until the mid-20th century. In Japanese, the term 'wireless' is the basis for the term 'radio wave' although the term for the device that listens to radio waves is literally 'device for receiving sounds'.

Nowadays, the radio has become a powerful tool to communicate and broadcast all over the world. It is not as popular as the TV but it still is important among the media and now with online radio, it is even easier to listen to it.

About the Author: Rory McLeod, is the director of the National Broadcasting School.
