Gambia international Njogu Demba scored a 45th minute goal to aid his Brann side to a c home victory against Lillestrom in the Norwegian Tippeliga on Sunday.

The athletic striker set up forward-pair Einarsson to open the scoring in the 22nd minute before the visitors grasped an equaliser five minutes before half-time.

Hopes were restored when the former Panathinaikos, FC Kerkira and Esbjerg striker, coiled in a stunning free-kick to earn his first league goal and in effect aided the champions to land their second win in five league matches.

Sunday’s victory saw Brann climbed up to ninth position in the fourteen-team league table on seven points, four points behind the leaders, Stabaek.

Gambian Edrissa Sonko’s English League One club, Walsall, have lost their proud unbeaten run with an undeserved 2-1 defeat at Carlisle United over the weekend. 

There was a brisk start to proceedings on a chilly February afternoon. With four minutes on the clock, Edrissa Sonko did well to win the ball in the middle of the park and find Tommy Mooney. The skipper in turn switched play to debut boy, Kevin Betsy who forced a corner that came to nothing.

It wasn't long before The Saddlers got their noses in front when Mooney found Holmes who turned sharply and arrowed a shot home to send the travelling contingent wild with delight.

The goal acted to liven up the home side and just before the half-hour, Dobie put a header straight at Ince as he found space inside the area. Ince then did well to tip over Lumsden's long-range effort.

The assistant referee flagged to award the home side a penalty kick much to the dismay of the Walsall players. It was Bridge-Wilkinson who stepped up to slot home and level the scores.

Walsall were on top and looked the more likely side until Ince's quick throw-out in search of Holmes was cut out by the experienced Bridge-Wilkinson who crossed for Danny Graham and he guided the ball underneath the body of Ince with a Carlisle player appearing to be in an offside position as the ball came into the danger zone.

Ince did well to hold onto a powerful strike from outside the area as a corner was only half-cleared.

In the end, there was no way back for Walsall as they lost for the first time in the League since October. The defeat saw them remain at 5th position on 46 points.
