Current Feed ContentJanjangbureh community extols President JammehMonday, September 01, 2008 The community of Janjangbureh, led by their National Assembly member, Hon Foday Manka, expressed gratitude and appreciation to President Jammeh for the decision taken by his government to construct a bridge at the Sankulay Kunda River ferry crossing point and the donation of a tractor to the community. In an interview with the Daily Observer, Hon Manka said this development will not only salvage the insular community from socio-economic decline and isolation, but will also address the underdeveloped rural infrastructure APRC government inherited from the first republic. He noted that the strategic location of Sankulay Kunda Bridge will undoubtedly facilitate communication between all the administrative regions in the country. The district chief, Bakary Jam Jawo, commended President Jammeh for giving a tractor to the people of Janjangbureh. He said the donation of this tractor has significantly boosted rice production in the district. Seyfo Jawo further highlighted the important role President Jammeh plays in providing agricultural inputs to the people of The Gambia. Other speakers were Mariama Manneh, councillor, and Ebrima Janko Foon, the ward councillor, both of whom expressed similar sentiments. After losing to Wallidan in the League finale, Mr Ndong, according to the Daily Observer, is on record congratulating the league champions and commending the referees for great officiating. What more can you ask of this gentleman and national hero; even in defeat he is a humble man. If only others emulate this fine example, Gambian sports in general will be in better shape. For people who don't know, sports discipline was instilled in this young man by Abdul Aziz Coker, who was Sang's coach at the tender age of 17. Mr Aziz, a football legend himself, used the commencement of the daily practice sessions in front of the School of Nursing in the 70's to talk about DISCIPLINE! It has paid off; one of his protégés and for the record, one of the best goalkeepers to ever put on our national colours is worth emulating. Keep it going Sang. Mindorr Mama Author: DO Mahad SSSS lauds Jammeh’s benevolenceWednesday, June 11, 2008 Mr Ampro Koroma, principal of Mahad Senior Secondary School in Brikama, Western Region, has praised the Gambian leader, President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, for his donation of D20,000 to the school, a gesture the Gambian leader extended during his recently concluded dialogue with the people tour. In an interview with the Daily Observer, shortly after a school party, held in their premises, in Jamisa, last Saturday, Mr Koroma expressed gratitude and appreciation for President Jammeh. According to him, the donation was a manifestation of the Gambian leader’s willingess to boost education. In an apparent attempt to justify the social gathering, the principal cited a traditional maxim: “all work, no play makes Lamin a dull student.” Mr Koroma went on: “if you help to educate a person, you give the person the potential to develop themself.” While stressing that education was one of the most valuable asset a child needed for their future prosperity, he called on his students to rally behind President Jammeh. The vice principal of the school, Lamin Drammeh, echoed his boss by thanking the Gambian head of state, describing him as a good leader. He also hailed the staff and students of the school for their effort in ensuring the successful organization of the party. The school authorities expressed their appreciation to the Gambian leader in an interview with this reporter, last Monday. Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the governor of Central River Region, who is also a board member of the school, lauded the President’s assistance, describing his gesture as a clear show of generosity to students and the school in general. Ebrima Joof, the principal of the school, also thanked the president for the gesture, saying that only a leader who cares and loves his people sacrifices his life and property for the good of his people. Mr Joof said Gambians are proud of their country and their leader, whom he said have built a new Gambia on a very solid foundation to become a superpower. Principal Joof seized the opportunity to wish President Jammeh a bilated happy birthday and many more to celebrate. The board chairman, Kaunding Tambedou, described President Jammeh as a dynamic leader with a vision of development. Wednesday, June 04, 2008 Senegalese President, Abdoulaye Wade, has sent a goodwill message expressing profound gratitude and deep appreciation to President Jammeh’s personal presence and participation at the 11th Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), held in Dakar, recently. President Wade prayed for the continuous good health and success of his Gambian counterpart. His pieces including The Maple Leaf Rag and The Entertainer remain popular to this day despite being over one hundred years old. If Scott Joplin and his ragtime compatriots were rooted firmly in the piano then the guitar was the instrument of choice for the blues men. There are many who would argue that jazz and the blues are different forms of music but to anyone who has experienced the deep passions of either form will appreciate the deep human energy that fires them both. Dr Yahya Jammeh. This they manifested in the form of an award of a certificate in appreciation and recognition of his tireless effort, during the recent swearing in ceremony of their fourth executive council. This was held on Saturday, at the auditorium of the School of Nursing, Gambia College, Banjul Campus. It could be recalled that one of the longest standing problems of the medical school had been a chronic constraint in the transportation of the students to and from lectures halls as well as to undertake postings, outings and other exercises. Recently, the presidents came to the aid of the students with a donation of a brand new 49-seater bus. Expressing his appreciation to the gesture from President Jammeh, Mr Sheriffo Sanneh, a senior teacher at Siffoe Senior Secondary School, one of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation on behalf of his principal to President Jammeh for what he described as a laudable gesture. According to Mr Sanneh, the gesture will go a long way in contributing towards ameliorating the transportation constraints being faced by students in his area. He also gave the assurance that the donated items will be put to good use. Also speaking to these reporters, Mr Lamin S.M. Bojang, a History and Government teacher at Siffoe Senior Secondary School, appealed to the President to improve the welfare of Gambian teachers.
