The entertainment night, exclusively organised by Amies Promotions in collaboration with Fire House Crew, is expected to be another thrilling showcase. According to Amie Manka, the organisers of the event, the artistes in the night includes, Marthin Luther King aka Mr "Do Deh Ham’, Marion George, Magnificent Joe, Firdaws, among other big time artistes. "It will also witness one of the Gambia’s hottest Disk Jokey, Fireman of FireHouse Crew in the building. The house will be on fire, as the, the night will enable the King "A" Fire to give conscious vibes to the youth folk," she said. She added that, some of the new generation tunes like -basement, reggae dancehall, R&B will the order of the day among others will hit tunes from the Senegambia melodies. "The famous DJ Fireman will there to give full satisfaction to the fans. So fans get ready and fasten you dancing shoes, as the house will ablaze on the night," she added. If Jaliba Kuyateh’s name continues to ring a bell like other artistes such as Youssou Ndour, Salif Keita, many believe that Pa Omar Jack will also, in a near future, propel Gambian music into a new dimension. Author: by Abdoulie John Gambian artistes in major compilation![]() Friday, May 23, 2008 In their quest to render support in the country’s music industry Afric Alliance, an association comprising renowned Gambian show-bix promoters recently introduce Open Mic, a forum where Gambian will showcase their talents. Afric- Alliance was formed in December 2006 by Black Lynx and One Tribe Sound. The objective of the association is to promotes, unite and expose Gambian artistes internationally. Fomerly held at Christian Council , Open Mic is one of the hottest concerts in town. It has now been move to Kairaba Avenue near Harry’s Supermarket due to it’s nearness and proximity to the public and is exclusively free to the public. Since it’s inception, many sprouting talents had participated in this monthly talents show that continued o witnessed larges public turn out. The first Open Mic volume one compilation series will be out in mid July. According to Abdou Karim Wagan Faye, member of Afric-Alliance team, the monthly show is one of its kind . "It’s petty big show and has attracted public attention. We have over 100 artistes that participate in our shows. We are not excluding mbalax or afromanding artistes but we want to start with hip-hop and reggae, for now" he said. He further revealed that, their first four episode is currently in the market. Mr Faye added that their main targets is to promote local Gambian stars to the international music arena. " The DVDs and CDs cost only D200.This is the start record label where we use to release local artistes but their products has to be good,"he said. ThCDs are available in recording studios. He is expected to perform alongside three other prominent Gambian stars Jaliba Kuyateh and the Kumareh Band, Sambou Suso, the golden voice of manding, and The Gambia’s mbalax sensation Pa Omar Jack otherwise known as Mr"Fish & Chips." The Senegalses mbalax star will also perform at Paradise Suites Hotel near Senegambia, and Jokor Garden Club Westfield, Serrekunda. The three day fun-filled event is exclusively organised by the Mighty Champion DJ Lamin Cham of Champion Sound Promotions. In a chat with What’s On, Champion DJ lamented that this programmes are all gear towards briging Gambia and Senegalese artistes under one umbrella. The much-hyped Carnival organised by Yaram Arts under the co-ordination of Gambia’s premier showbiz promoter, Njok Malick Jeng, brought together under one roof thousands of Diasporean Gambians and other nationals domiciling in the UK. Speaking to this paper, Pa Malick Secka, the Representative of Yaram Arts in The Gambia said that the trio made triumphant performances at the London Carnival, adding that they represented The Gambia in the best ambassadorial guise at the Carnival. He went on to pat them each on the back for what he described as a marvellous job, noting that other artistes should emulate their shinning examples. Source: The Point Tujereng Art Museum Organises Workshop for Artistes![]() Friday, September 14, 2007 Tujereng Art Museum recently organised a two-day workshop on art designs at its complex in Tujereng. The workshop, which brought together about 20 artistes from various communities in Kombo South, was described as a total success. Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director of Tujereng Art Museum, Mr Lamin Ndong, said that the workshop was geared towards equipping participants with requisite skills in their trade. Mr Ndong further revealed that the workshop would also aid art designers to be able to produce highly –rated art works.
