In a post-match interview with waiting journalists, Nigeria’s second goal scorer, Stephen Worgu, said he was elated with the performance of the team, as it was their first competitive match since they came together. <br /> <br /> Worgu pledged that the team would do better as the competition progresses, saying: "I am happy that I got one of the goals in this match. I am also happy for the team, because we did not get our pattern right in the first half. We had to come out better in the second half, and we were able to get the job done." <br /> <br /> The 2008 CAF Champions League's highest scorer with 13 goals who noted that the expectant crowd put a lot of pressure on the Flying Eagles, was full of gratitude to the initiators of the competition, noting that it would help to make the Nigerian team a better side for next year's African Youth Championship finals in Rwanda. <br /> <br /> The draw for the Rwanda finals, which is fixed between January 18 and February 1, in Kigali, was held over the weekend. The Gambian squad is dominated by the under 20 players who recently failed to qualify for the African Youth Championship in Rwanda and a hanful of the victorious under 17 players, including strike duo Ebrima Bojang and Alasana Camara.<br /> <br /> The Darling Scorpions will begin their chase of the coveted cup against Guinea on Friday, November 28, before taking on neighbours, Senegal, two days later. The Gambia will round up their group match against against  familiar opponents, Ghana, on December 2. <br /> <br /> The competition would also see hosts, Nigeria who are paired in Group A alongside Togo, Benin and Guinea Bissau. Group C consist of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Mauritania whilst Mali, Cape Verde, Niger and Liberia make up Group D. In a build up to the tournament, the Gambian soldiers have been preparing extensively holding series of friendly matches. <br /> <br /> Alhagie Sey, the head coach of Armed Forces FC revealed that his side will also have friendly matched with national youth teams as part of final preparation for the championship. But the traditional sponsor decided to make a U-turn this year for a reason yet to be divulged to the public. </p><p>Banjul is one of the centres affected by the withdrawal and the secretary general of the Banjul Sports Committee, Ebou Faye, said Western Union should have informed the centres earlier so that they would look for an alternative.</p><p>“We’re only informed last week that Western Union will not be sponsoring this year’s nawettan. This has created a dire situation in our zone,” Faye told Observer Sports.</p><p>“We contacted Western Union in June for their sponsorship package of the league competition, but they did not even have the courtesy to acknowledge or inform us that they will not be sponsoring it this time around.”</p><p>“It’s totally disrespectful, coming after Western Union had used the nawettan centers to established itself as one of the leading money transfer institutions in the market. Now it has decided to turn its back on us without even informing us on time”.</p><p>While Faye criticized Western Union for its abrupt move, he also believes that the nawettan centres should have some share of the blame.</p><p>“The nawettan centers should also be blamed for not having a written contract with Western Union.
