Current Feed ContentBusiness Consultant Dodou Jobe ReleasedTuesday, July 01, 2008 After Two Months in Detention The Point has learnt from competent sources that Mr. Dodou Jobe, a renowned business consultant who was arrested two months ago, was last Saturday released from detention. Mr Jobe, who was arrested alongside Alhagie Banta Kaira, also a renowned businessman, was reported to have been picked up by state security agents on 28th April 2008. No official reason was advanced to this paper for his arrest, nor for that of his alleged accomplice, Banta Kaira, who was earlier on granted bail. Meanwhile, our sources added that two other senior police officers, Burama Dibba, ex-Crime Management Co-ordinator (CMC) and Ebrima Kunji Jammeh, ex-Commanding Officer, Serious Crimes Unit, are still being held at the Mile 2 prisons. The duo was arrested on Wednesday, 30th April 2008. No official reason was advanced to this paper regarding their arrest. Source: Monday 30th June 2008 Issue Staab Satisfied With Inaugural Female Coach TrainingThursday, June 12, 2008 Monika Staab, FIFA technical consultant for female football, has expressed satisfaction with the level of female football in The Gambia. While making these remarks yesterday at closing ceremony of the GFA/FIFA one-week coaching course, she said female football has developed rapidly in the past few years and the coaching course will aid participants in coaching teams and will enable them to bring more players into the game. She urged participants to make good use of the knowledge gained from the course and share it with clubs for the advancement of female football in the country. Also speaking at the closing ceremony, Seedy MB Kinteh President of The Gambia football Association stated that the training is a clear recognition of the increase popularity of female football in The Gambia. He added that the coaching education would forward improve the standard of the female courses. Seedy commended FIFA president Blatter for his massive investment in Gambian football.
