Bojang, the speaker of the National Youth Parliament (NYP), recently left Gambian soil to attend the 5th annual youth assembly at the United Nations headquarters in New york, scheduled from the 11th-15th August, 2008. The annual youth assembly is meant for youth leaders around the world, to educate young people about the United Nations, its current affairs and the way youths can be involved in building a peaceful world. The theme for this year’s conference is; “Tomorrow’s leaders today”. The NYP speaker who is representing The Gambia’s Youth Parliament, is expected back on August 22nd, 2008. I always find your new items interesting and enjoyable. The staff are obviously demonstrating a real sense of professionalism to their work, as the service they render to The Gambian population at large suggest. The way you feature your articles and your grammer usage is educating to us as students at the primary, secondary and even the tartiary level. As students, we can read and get sense when we get hold of the Daily Observer Newspaper. I just returned from Senegal from where I used to log on to your website to access daily information in about m motherland. I hope the management is also looking into expanding the general circulation so that an ordinary as Koinanka (ie, some in Koina) can know what is happening in the country. Your presence in The Gambia and your leading role as flag bearers in the country’s media sector is a stricking demonstration. Each time I log on your website, it is always clear and contained straight forward information that are of human interest. Take for example the content being carry out on a daily basis of the newspaper. As for me this is a bold move which has not only attracted large audience but will also inculcate the culture of reading in the history of our dear motherland. The importance of the media cannot be over emphasis towards national development especially in the country’s drive to achieve Vision 2020. The quest in the attainment of the Silicon Valley has called on the participation of all and sundry to reach our goal. To me, Daily Observer has always been in the frontline by contributing a great deal towards a worthy course. Before I drop my pen, I take this opportunity to thank the management and staff of the Daily Observer for a job well done and urged them to continue the momentum for the betterment of our nation, The Gambia.
