Current Feed ContentFire outbreak at Home Finance Company![]() Thursday, September 25, 2008 A dramatic scene unfolded last night, as fire egulfed the building housing the Home Finance Company and Social Security and Housing Finance Co-operation, the floor on top of Trust Bank Limited, at Westfield, the Daily Observer can reveal. According to eye witnesses, the fire started at around 8.00 clock local time, in the evening when the Fire Service personnel were called immediately to contain it. Mr Salimina Tamba, a security officer at G4S security, said only two air conditioners got burnt in the fire incident. Mr Tamba who rushed to the scene immediately the fire broke out, told the Daily Observer that it was easily contained by the Fire Service personnel. Sources also informed this paper that the two air conditioners that got burnt had just been bought and fixed, yesterday. However, until the time of going to press, the cause of the fire was not ascertained but many onlookers believed that it was due to an electric fault. Apart from the Fire Service’s intervention, other security personnel headed by the security chiefs, were also present on the ground. Author: by Assan Sallah Fire ravages Bakau compoundThursday, January 31, 2008 A compound in Bakau belonging to one Momodou Minteh, who is currently living abroad, was, on Sunday, ravaged by a serious fire outbreak, which destroyed all the household materials. Jarra Jaiteh, a resident suffered serious burns to her hands. Lamin Jawara, an eye witness who lives in the compound, told the Daily Observer that the cause of the fire is unknown. He narrated “we were sitting in the compound when we heard Jarra Jaiteh, a 32-year old who was sick and lying inside the house, screaming. When we went to see what happened, we saw smoke coming from the bedroom. But before we were able to rescue her, she got severe burns on her arms” he explained. He added that they tried to put off the fire and succeeded in reducing the strength but the heat emanating from it broke down the glass windows. Another eye witness who begged anonymity said that the unprecedented number of fire disasters happening nowadays is very disturbing and should be a major concern in the country.
