Youths fined for violating Highway Code

The Bundung Magistrates’ Court recently sentenced three youths to pay a fine of D500 for violating the Highway Code. Ousman Bah, Sheikh Ndure and Malick Njie could spend three months in jail if they each fail in paying the D500 fine. The alleged robbery case that reportedly happened between the GGC depot and Palm Grove Hotel on the busy Banjul/ Serekunda Highway has now become a subject of litigation. Man given bail for violating Highway Code

One Dembo Kambi was recently given bail at the sum of D3000 for allegedly causing obstruction on a public highway, contrary to section (1C) of the Road and Highway Act of 1997. According to particulars of the offence, Dembo Kambi on or about 30 May 2008, parked his vehicle at a certain location thereby causing obstruction to other road users. He denies any wrongdoing when the charge sheet was read out to him. 

Six months for Highway Code violator

The Bundung Magistrates’ Court has condemned one Sadibou Marenah to six months in prison for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle. He was however left with an option of paying D1000 court fine. Amadou was brought before Magistrate B.O. Jobe for being arrested on the AU Highway and, at a time when the vehicle was unlicensed.

UNDP cleaners close road!
