14 Year-Old Boy in Need of Treatment Abroad

Friday, May 16, 2008

Samba Saine, a 14 year-old boy from Kunkujang Keita, needs to travel overseas for treatment.

According to the medical report issued by the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital on March 7th 2008, Samba Saine got abdominal pain while playing football with some friends.

It continues saying that the first diagnosis was spleen haematoma following a CT scan examination. Later he developed an abdominal tumor localised in the upper side of the left and epigastic areas, which was very hard.

It was decided to operate on Samba on the 9th of April 2008.When a taparotomy was done the report states the following findings: A big multi-loulated malignant tumor was found. It was impossible to remove because of the vital organs nearby.

In conclusion the report states that the boy cannot be treated in The Gambia and that he needs to go abroad for treatment in Dakar.

The parent of the patient is appealing to individuals, government, companies and donors to support Samba. People wishing to help can contact The Point on 4497441 or call into our offices at no. 2 Garba Jahumpa Road Bakau. Alternatively call 9986378 or 7762349
