British national faces murder charge

One William Ball, a British national, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate, Kumba Sillah–Camara, charged with rash and negligence, causing death, contrary to section 221, laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence, on January 28th, 2008, along Sukuta - Brufut Highway, heading towards Bijilo, in the Kombo North, Western Region of The Gambia, William Ball was on board a vehicle, registration number (JWB1), driving in a rash and negligent manner , thus causing the death of one Modou Ceesay.

When the charge sheet was read to him, he pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

At that juncture, the Police Prosecutor, Corporal 438 Njie, applied to the court for the case to be adjourned, to enable him bring his witness on the next adjournment date.

In her ruling, Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, granted the application and adjourned the case to Tuesday, April 22nd.
