Geographical Media releases VGA Planets: Skyfire!
Released in August 2026, VGA Planets: Skyfire brings a new kind of battle to the Echo Cluster. Set in the Planets.nu universe, Skyfire turns fleet command into fast, real-time encounters: choose your ships, deploy them into the action and respond as the enemy fleet arrives.
The official Skyfire website introduces the game with a simple promise: real-time space battles, 12 races and matches lasting three to five minutes. It is a chance to explore the Planets universe through short, focused battles rather than a turn-by-turn campaign.
Build a fleet. Deploy it live.
Your fleet begins as a deck of ship cards. Choose from warships, freighters and minelayers, then spend energy to deploy them through a contested sector. Battles unfold live, with enemy ships warping into the fight and new decisions to make as the situation changes.
The objective is to break through asteroid lanes, destroy opposing starbases and defeat the enemy homeworld before time runs out. There are no turns: timing your deployments and responding to the opposing fleet are part of every match.
Familiar empires, new tactical choices
Skyfire draws on Planets.nu’s ship lists across 12 empires, with hundreds of ships. Beam ships, torpedo ships, fighter carriers, cloakers and glory devices give commanders different tools for building a fleet and countering an opponent.
Progression extends beyond a single battle. Players can win space chests, unlock ship cards and upgrade hulls from Tech 1 to Tech 10, improving weapons and engines as their collection grows.
Play online, practice solo, or take the fleet with you
Commanders can enter ranked matches against other players or practice against a simulator. Account-based progression carries across devices, making it possible to keep building your fleet as you switch between them.
Skyfire is free to play in a browser without installation. The official site also links to Android and iOS versions, offering another way to bring a short space battle into your day.
